Notable News Weekly

Welcome to the “Notable News Weekly”, where we share the weekly email submitted to City Council and staff since its inception in 2022. This email highlights key accomplishments and updates from across all City departments, giving insight into the projects and programs shaping our community. While not an exhaustive list, it demonstrates the remarkable amount of work happening each week and fosters collaboration, efficiency, and teamwork among staff.

This Week's Notable News Highlights: 

  • Police Department- On May 20, 2026, patrol officers responded to the 1900 block of Campus Ave for a call of a road rage incident which resulted in an assault of a minor and vandalism of a vehicle. The Detective Bureau assumed the case and through an investigation identified the suspect. On June 11, the suspect agreed to surrender himself to the Upland Police Department and was taken into custody.
  • Public Works- Tom Thomas Magnolia Plaza: Contractor is excavating along the south side of the property for the perforated storm drain pipeline and continues with trenching for the underground electrical conduit installation. Foundations for the cantilevered beams have been pours along with sample concrete color “mock-ups” for review and approval by the City. Contractor has also began forming the rebar reinforcement for various concrete areas along the project site.
