Library cards are free and available to any California resident. At the Upland Public Library, photo identification, verification of current address, and your physical presence are required to register for a library card. A parent or legal guardian must take responsibility for a person under 18 years of age and must show photo identification and proof of current address at the time of registration. Guardians must also show court-issued custodial guardian documentation. Examples of acceptable proof of address include: a California driver's license or DMV identification, utility bill, printed checks, car registration or lease/rental receipt.
Library card registrations are valid for 3 years. Please notify the Library if you have a change of address or name. Please report any lost or stolen card immediately. The replacement card fee is $2.00. A patron's outstanding balance must be paid in full before card privileges may be renewed. For more information on library cards, please call (909) 931-4200.

ZipBooks
THE 2025-2026 ZIPBOOK SEASON IS COMING SOON!
The Upland Public Library 2025-2026 ZipBooks program will be starting soon. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the past. Please stay tuned for updates on next year's Zipbook program.
If you can't find a book at your local library or elsewhere in the Upland Public Library catalog, consider using our FREE ZipBooks program to have it ordered and sent to you.
ZipBooks allows you to request a book and have it mailed directly to your address through Amazon. Once purchased and delivered, it will be recorded as checked out to you by the library. When you’re done, you’ll bring it back for library staff to check in as a brand-new library book.
Below are answers to essential questions about the ZipBooks program, which is funded by the California State Library.
Fill out the form below to submit your ZipBooks request today.
ZipBooks
Most books are eligible for Zip requests. The book must meet the criteria below.
A ZipBook in print form must be
- Any item not already available within the Upland Public Library.
- in stock on Amazon Prime.
- Cost $50.00 or less before taxes.
- not out of print.
DVDS, music CDs, audiobooks and ebooks (including Kindle books) are not eligible to be requested through the Zip Books program.
We expect to fulfill the vast majority of ZipBooks requests, but approval will depend on available funds, the availability of the item on Amazon, and our evaluation of the title as being suitable for addition to the library collections.
Please check Amazon.com beforehand to make sure the item is available. We will contact you if we are unable to fulfill the request or if it does not meet the criteria.
You can only request three (3) ZipBook items at a time. Items are not to exceed 2 renewals, and must be returned to the Upland Public Library and handed to staff upon return.
To avoid loss or theft, we encourage you to enter a delivery address where someone will be present to accept the package during the working day. This could be a home or business address, or a P.O. box.
If you don't receive your ZipBook order within two weeks, please email us at zipbooks@uplandlibrary.org. If it arrives damaged, email us to avoid being charged.
When you have finished with a ZipBook item, DO NOT place it in a book drop! Because it comes directly from Amazon.com, the item will not yet be bar-coded for the Upland Public Library System. If it goes into the book drop, we will not be able to track it the usual way, and you may be charged for a lost item.
You must return the book in person directly to a library employee at your local branch and tell them “This is a ZipBook.”
To participate, you must be a current Upland Public Library card holder in good standing, with less than $5.00 in outstanding charges. E-cards are not eligible for ZipBook requests.
If the item is not found within Upland Public Library, you might want to consider placing an interlibrary loan (ILL) request. Talk to your local library staff for more information.
To make a request, fill out the form located below or visit us in person to receive a form.
Make sure to fill out the form completely, including your email address. If you need help identifying the ISBN for an item, ask library staff for assistance.
Please join us in thanking the California State Library for their generous support of the ZipBooks program and the Upland Public Library!
Please fill out the form below to request an item. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). If you do not receive a response from us within 24 hours, please reach out to us at (909) 931-4200.
