Quimby Fee Reports

Quimby fees are authorized under the 1975 Quimby Act, which allows cities and counties to require the dedication of land, the payment of in-lieu fees, or a combination of both for park and recreational purposes as a condition of subdivision map approval. These fees are used to help fund the acquisition, development, and improvement of public park and recreational facilities that serve new residential development. Residential projects are not subject to both the Parks Development Impact Fee (DIF) and the Quimby in-lieu fee. If a development qualifies under the Quimby Act, the Quimby fee is applied; if it does not qualify, the Parks DIF is charged instead.
The reports below are related to the City’s administration of Quimby fees and compliance with state law and describe how Quimby fees are collected, accounted for, and used to support park and recreational facilities. These materials are provided to promote transparency and inform the public about the use of Quimby fees over time.
