Weed Abatement
Weed Abatement Program
The City of Upland’s Weed Abatement program is designed to safeguard the community by reducing fire hazards. This includes inspecting properties within city limits and notifying owners of their obligations to keep their properties clear of weeds and trash.
The program runs annually from February through July, but fire safety is a priority all year round. To help protect your property and community, we ask that you keep your land clear of combustible debris and maintain your weeds and grasses by trimming and managing them regularly.
Here are a few simple but impactful actions you can take to make your property more defensible property in the event of a fire.
- Remove all dead or dying vegetation from your property.
- Eliminate dead or decaying material from live vegetation, especially beneath shrubs and bushes.
- Keep grass trimmed to a height of 4 inches or less.
- Prune or limb trees to create space between vegetation.
- Establish defensible space around your home.
- Ensure there is a clear path along the sides of your home to provide first responders easy access to your backyard.
- Clear all combustible debris from your property.
Together, we can create a safer, fire-resilient environment for all.
