Virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest For All Ages

It's almost Halloween!  Time to get your pumpkin decorating creativity together to carve or decorate that one-of-a-kind pumpkin for your chance to win a Halloween pail full of goodies just for you!  The contest is open to all ages!

Age Categories:  4 to 9 years, 10 to 15 years, and 16 years & up

Pumpkin Decorating Contest Categories:   Carved and Other Decor

The rules are simple:  Decorate or carve your pumpkin as you please.  Be creative and  let your imagination soar.  Most important, have FUN!  You may carve, paint, stencil, or decorate in any creative way of your choice.  Once your pumpkin is complete, take a photo, and submit the photo, along with the completed entry form to sguzman@ci.upland.ca.us

All entries must be received no later than Tuesday, October 27th.  Judging will take place and winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 28th.  Prizes will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 29th.

City Of Upland 13th Annual Turkey Trot Virtual 5K & 1K Kiddie Trot

COME OUT AND EXERCISE BEFORE THE BIG MEAL!
Upland Recreation and Community Services along with the Upland High School Boys and Girls Cross Country Team are proud to announce our 13th Annual Turkey Trot Virtual 5K & 1K Kiddie Trot!  This year's event is a virtual event.  Participate for fun or add the personal challenge of competing for 1st place in each age category!

This is our 3rd and final event in our Upland Trifecta Challenge, open to runners, walkers, and strollers of all ages and abilities - the perfect way to kick off your Thanksgiving festivities! Funds generated through this great community event will help the Upland High School’s Boys and Girls Cross Country Team.

*Medals will be given to Overall Finisher and 1st Place Finishers in each age category of the 5K. Each 1st Place & the Overall Finisher will be contacted to receive their medal.

In search of Outdoor Fall Fun? Participate in a virtual fun run! From any location you choose, you can run, jog, walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill at the gym or on the track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.  

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR VIRTUAL FUN RUN RESULTS:  Runners will track their own results and completion is based on the honor system. Although there are no awards or prizes for the first to the finish line, we thought it would still be fun to keep track of the finish time for each participant. Once your virtual fun run is complete, you can submit your results HERE!  Results will be posted the week of October 5th. HERE!

Outdoor Fall Fun: Plant Spring Bulbs

Spring flowering bulbs are some of the most beloved plants of all time. In order to enjoy spring-flowering bulbs like tulips, daffodils, paper-whites, crocus, and hyacinths, gardeners must remember to plan ahead and plant them in the fall months. Exact timing will vary.  Plan a weekend day to indulge in the garden alone, or perhaps spend some time with a young gardener and introduce them to the upcoming beauty of spring flowers.

Take A Road Trip...See The Fall Folliage

The fall season may bring cooler temperatures and shorter days, but it also brings colorful leaves and a backdrop for some beautiful photos. Each year can vary, but the most colorful leaves typically become the most visible mid-September through early November.  If you’re considering a fall foliage road trip, be sure to buckle-up and take a camera!

With the shorter days, children spend less time outside in the fresh air and may have some energy that needs to be burned off.
