Term of Office 2020-2024

Bill Velto has been a resident of Upland for over 60 years and is one of nine children of the late Al and Gloria Velto. "The values I learned from my parents of honesty, integrity and respect are the values that I strive to adhere to today.”

 

Bill is experienced with having to work and live with many differing opinions and expectations, “Something I learned while growing up as the middle child of five brothers and three sisters.” 

 

Bill attended Upland Schools and was active in youth sports including Little League, Pony League, Upland High School Football and Soccer. He and his wife Jody, a local Realtor, have raised four children who attended Upland schools, and all four children participated in just about every youth sport available in Upland. Two of his four children served as Associated Student Body Presidents their Senior Years at Upland High School.

 

His four children include Kristen Dowling, currently Coaching for the University of Redlands Women’s Basketball Team. Natalie Velto is a local artist. Alex Velto is an attorney practicing in Reno, Nevada and is currently the Chair of Reno City Planning Commission and Billy Velto, is with the Inland Empire Strykers organization’s Operations Department.

 

Bill is also the General Manager of MGR Real Estate, Inc. He served many years on the Local Candidate Review Committee for the Inland Valley Association of Realtors where he was able to meet with local elected officials from many cities in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.  Bill also serves on the Mt. San Antonio College Real Estate Education Committee.

 

Bill served in the United States Navy where he credits his growth and understanding for leadership and commitment to service of others.

 

Prior to being elected as Mayor of Upland, Bill was appointed to the Upland City Council. Bill also served as Vice Chairman of the Upland Planning Commission, and a planning commissioner for many years.

 

Bill also serves on the IEUA, WFA, SAWCo, Chino Basin Water Mastermaster and other local and regional boards. 

 

Bill believes that working together we will make Upland a better place to call home. Bill also believes Upland is a great place to grow up and raise a family, and has dedicated his career to promoting Upland, and will continue to make every effort to continue the tradition that Upland remains “The City of Gracious Living”.
