Description
This bungalow has been substantially altered, leaving its original appearance in question. An "L"-shaped gable roof determines the building plan. The projecting leg of the "L" is front-gabled and contains a small porch cut away from the southwest corner. Fishscale shingles face the gable end. The remainder of the structure is sheathed with medium clapboard and trimmed with endboards. Fenestration is one-over-one double-hung sash windows with slightly extended lintels. The side gable, which was the short leg of the "L", has been extended over the driveway along the south end of the lot to create a carport. The bungalow, which sits on a low stone foundation, is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This house appeared with a single, long footprint when the 1912 Sanborn was drawn, and may have existed in smaller form when the 1907 Sanborn was published. At the time it apparently was part of a much larger parcel, part of lot 555 of the Ontario Colony Lands, and its ownership is unknown.
