Description

Bellcast hip roofs provide the identifying characteristic of this one-and-a-half story, turn-of-the-century residence. The primary roof is accented by central dormers containing triple windows on the east and north elevations. Eaves are extended and soffits enclosed. The box-like structure is clad with narrow clapboard above a continuous sill and by medium horizontal siding below it. An original porch, probably located in the southeast corner of the building, has been enclosed, leaving an offset entry with late Colonial influenced detailing. Shutters added to an original double-hung sash window on the north half of the facade also suggest a Colonial influence in the remodeling. The house is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Originally this property consisted of two lots. Probably it was built circa 1904 when Mary Haddon became owner. Curiously, while the 1907 and 1912 Sanborns show this lot occupied, the 1915-23 assessments do not indicate that there was any improvement on the lot.
