Description
This small one-story Colonial bungalow is oriented perpendicular to the street, with the entry on the side (north) elevation. Its gabled roof has extended eaves, exposed rafters and plain bargeboards. The bungalow is built on a slightly raised exposed cement foundation and is sheathed in narrow clapboard. A gabled hood projects over the entrance. Double-hung sash windows are framed by extended lintels and lug sills. The bungalow is identical to 277 North Sixth Avenue. The twin bungalows sit directly across a cement path from each other with 263 facing north and 277 facing south. Driveways are located at the outer edges of each lot. Both appear to be largely unaltered, with the exception of security bars, and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Tract 1965, also known as Eymann Place, was subdivided in 1926. Several residences were built on this block shortly after subdivision; these houses were among them. The first assessed owners were Ronald and Christine Poole. Ronald Poole worked for the Upland News in various jobs including as an advertising man and as a printer.
