Description

Vines and flowering plants encircle this one-story Craftsman bungalow. The building is capped by a front gable, with a second gable projecting from the south section of the facade over a porch. Both gable ends feature tie beams; the rear gable is vented at its peak in a lattice pattern. A pergola extends north from the porch gable. Wide clapboard sheathes the structure, which sits on a stone foundation. Within the porch a paneled door with four lights and a window whose narrow upper sash contains eight small lights are visible; other openings are screened by foliage. Cobblestone piers carrying abbreviated posts define the porch and are clad in vines. The bungalow appears to be unaltered and in good condition. RESEARCB NOTES: Wilbur H. Spicer, a bookkeeper, obtained this property around 1913 and was probably responsible for the construction of the house. He lived there until Glenn and Gladys Atwood purchased the house. Atwood worked in his family's dry goods store.
