Description
A simple but attractive example of late Craftsman styling, this one-story bungalow is sheathed in narrow clapboard and sits on a cobblestone foundation. A front-facing gabled roof with extending eaves and exposed rafters caps the structure. Venting composed of vertical slats fills the gable peak. A battered cobblestone pedestal carries a wood post which rises to the roof over the porch recessed into the southeast corner of the structure. Four steps with stone rails lead to the slightly offcentered door. A tripartite window occupies the north half of the facade. The bungalow is intact and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: According to the old lot books Hiram and Almira Barager built this home in 1923-24. Barager, who worked for the Upland Lemon Growers Association, lived on Campus, but it is unclear, due to changes in addresses, whether it was in this house.
