Description
Tidy and symmetrical, this is a one-story example of the Colonial Revival bungalow popular during the 1920s. Sheathed in narrow clapboard, the bungalow is sited with its clipped gabled roof parallel to the street. Three shallow steps lead to a central six paneled door. An arched entry hood with decorative corbels and a gabled cap shelters the doorway. Fluted pilasters further define the entry and are echoed at the corners of the structure. Pairs of 611 double-hung sash windows to each side of the doorway complete the design. The structure sits on a stone foundation and is unaltered and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: It appears this home was constructed in 1923-24 following a lot split that resulted in the formation of the present parcel. The owners at the time were Richard and Catherine Guse. The house is remembered by long-time residents as the home of Eleanor Wilding, an organist and band director.
