Description

Stout cobblestone piers add a dramatic element to this one-story Craftsman bungalow, A low-pitched front facing gabled roof covers the dwelling. The piers support another slightly lower gable projecting over the porch. A pair of stone pedestals frame the porch stairs, Trusswork in the gable face is left exposed. Fenestration consists of the entry flanked by windows banded at the top by two horizontal lights. Extended lintels top the openings. Clad with wood shingles the bungalow sits on a cobblestone foundation. It is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This house was probably built in 1911-12 by contractor R.C. Williams, who was assessed for the lot in 1912. The house is shown in the 1912 Sanborn. Edward T. Jordan, a rancher who lived on West Ninth and San Antonio, was the property owner from 1913 to 1919. In 1920 C.W. Niederman assumed title. He was followed by John and Anna Benfold in 1923. The Benfolds lived in the house; he was a rabbit breeder.
