Description
Shrubbery and aluminum awnings screen much of this turn-of-the- century residence from view. One-story, the building is sheathed with narrow clapboard. The hipped roof has slightly extended boxed eaves. An offset entry is shaded by a hood resting on plain wood posts. It appears that the house has been substantially altered; an "L"-shaped porch has been eliminated, changing the entry and the roof has been modified. The house seems to be in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: No definite conclusions as to the origins of this house can be drawn on the basis of available research. The house was there by 1912 and was probably built somewhat earlier, based on style. The first owners after subdivision (1905) were William Trunkfield (1906-1910) and A.J. Vicks (1911-12). Trunkfield apparently lived in the house in 1909-10; he was a packing house foreman. Subsequent owners included E.A. Bowen (1913-19) and David and Meta Niswander (from 1920).
