Description
Colonial Revival detailing influences the design of this boxy one-story, turn-of-the-century cottage. Sheathed in narrow clapboard siding, it is trimmed by endboards. The distinguishing characteristic of the cottage is a hipped roof which gently flares out into extended boxed eaves. The roofline is further enhanced by a front gable set above the north half of the facade. A "bulls eye" vent pierces the gable end. The porch, spanning the southwest half of the facade, has a pent roof supported by turned wood posts. Alterations have occurred to the front door and all of the windows. Otherwise, the cottage is intact and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This property was purchased in 1903 from the Magnolia Land and Water Company. Roger Robson, the assessed owner, was a rancher. He lived in the house from 1911 until the late 1910s, according to the directories. Roy E. Robson, a laborer, was also in residence. In 1922 the directory listing becomes Mrs. Kate Robson, a grader with the Upland Lemon Grower's Association. She was described as the widow of R.R. the following year.
