Description
This two-story Craftsman house occupies the southwest corner of Campus and Washington. Beneath a cross-gabled roof the building is sheathed in clapboards. A porch has been cut away from the northwest corner of the structure and is defined by cobblestone walls and pedestals and a gable which faces east. The house has been substantially remodeled; all of the windows appear to have been replaced, the south half of the porch eliminated, and an exterior staircase added to the south-elevation. The property is in fairly good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Located next to the pacific electric right-of-way, this property had several ownership changes until 1913, when it was assessed to T.S. Woodruff. since it does appear on the 1912 Sanborn (as"349"), one possibility is that it was constructed that year for Woodruff. Its address seems to have changed often; in 1928 it was labeled "287."
