Description
An L-shaped porch wraps the front (west) and side (north) elevations of this clapboard, turn-of-the-century residence. Tuscan columns, set upon a porch wall, rise to a plain frieze, over which the hipped roof of the building extends. A front - I gable containing an attic vent tops the right (south) bay of the porch. That bay also contains the entry and a large double-hung sash window. Another entry is recessed at the east end of the porch on the north elevation. On the south another wing is set back from the facade. Details such as the columns, frieze and boxed cornice suggest a Colonial Revival influence on the design of this unaltered residence. Set on a low foundation, it is in fairly good condition, Another residence, a one-story Craftsman dwelling which post dates the front building, is located in the rear of the lot ("520"). RESEARCH NOTES: This house was one of three on a parcel which extended south to Tenth Street (Arrow) in 1907. This larger property was owned by Mrs. R.E. Dundas (1897-1901); Helen Ruehle (1902-04); the heirs of G.H. Woodford (1905-1908); George Curtis (1909-10). In 1911 lot 13 was split and the northern portion, on which this house sits, sold to Jonathan Francis.
