Description

A layered roof configuration is the focus of this one-and-one-half story turn-of-the-century cottage. The main roof is steeply hipped with a large hipped dormer centered over the facade. Separate, truncated hipped roofs top the porch which extends across the facade and the rear wing. The various roofs are unified by a slightly flared and extended boxed cornice. The main portion of the cottage is sheathed in narrow clapboard finished with endboards. Original windows are narrow double-hung sash. Stone rails flank the three stairs centered on the facade which lead to the entry. The porch has been enclosed with wide vertical board siding and aluminum frame windows. The house is in good condition. REBEARCH NOTES : The first owner of this property after the subdivider, A.P. Harwood, was Rudolph D. Kintzi. An orange grower, Kintzi lived in the house with his wife Elizabeth and students Irving (also spelt Erwin and Irvin in the directories) and Frederick and nurse Delia. Formerly known as "339" the house was probably built around 1907-08 when Kintzi assumed title. The family occupied the house by 1909-10.
