Description

A front-facing gabled roof is the focal point of this one-story Craftsman bungalow. Erected on a cobblestone foundation, the lower portion of the bungalow is clad with wide clapboard. The gable end is sheathed with bands of rectangular and fishscale shingles, culminating in a latticework vent. Rafter tails are visible in the eaves and have been rounded. Three steps lead to a recessed porch which spans the facade. An offset door, paneled and pierced by six lights, is flanked by one-over-one double-hung sash windows. Tapered wood posts and a solid balustrade which appears to be an addition encloses the porch. The bungalow appears to be in fair condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Apparently this bungalow was erected between 1908, when the tract was subdivided and 1912, when it appeared on the Sanborn map. The owner during that period was Thomas B. Moler, an employee of Upland Feed and Fuel who lived on Arrow just east of Grove.
