Description
A cross-gabled roof of medium pitch caps this one-story Craftsman residence. Above a denticulated molding, the front gable face is shingled and pierced by a vent. The remainder of the building is clapboarded; it sits on a cobblestone foundation. Centered below the gable, the entry announced by a gabled hood with an arched soffit. The hood sits on large corbels. Triple windows are located to either side. Both the entry and windows appear to be alterations; the Sanborns indicate that a porch formerly spanned the facade. A more recent alteration is a carport-like projection from the south elevation. The building is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: John Toothman was the owner and resident of this house in 1912- 13. Since the Sanborns indicate that the house was on site by 1912 either he or the previous owner August L. Vancrom were probably responsible for its construction. After Toothman passed away, the house became the home of Fred and Mary Jacobs. Jacobs was a judge.
