Description
A single gabled roof running parallel with the street covers this one-story clapboarded Craftsman bungalow. Offset to the south, a cross gable caps an attached porch. The roof has projecting eaves with exposed rafters and plain bargeboards. Vertical lattice work fills the face of the porch gable. The porch is defined by two piers sitting on brick pedestals connected by a low wall. Tripartite windows flank the central doorway. Door and window openings have plain wide wood surrounds with slightly extended lintels and lug sills. The bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Mary and Elizabeth Griggs bought this property from carpenter Harry Dilts and his wife Elizabeth in 1929-30. The first improvement was assessed in 1930. Elizabeth Griggs was a teacher at Upland Junior High School. The house was formerly known as "357." Curiously, it does appear on the 1928 Sanborn.
