Description
Like its twin to the south, this is a one-story, Spanish Colonial Revival bungalow. Stucco sheathes the building, which has a flat roof screened by a stepped parapet. A central entry is announced by a raised vestibule pierced by arched openings. The tile that once covered the roof of the vestibule has been removed. To the north a tripartite window overlooks a raised platform which defines a porch. The south side of the facade contains a pair of double-hung sash windows. Other than the tile roof the bungalow appears largely intact and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Both this house and 422 North Eighth Avenue were built by C.C. Burkholder in 1924-25. Burkholder was a prominent Uplander: a builder, founder, and eventually bishop of the Brethren Church.
