Description
Cobblestone is used very effectively in the design of this onestory Craftsman bungalow. The clapboarded structure rests on a stone foundation. A low-pitched front gabled roof caps the structure. Another low-pitched front gable tops the porch, which is attached to the north two-thirds of the street facade. Projecting eaves with exposed rafters, triangular brackets and horizontal latticework distinguishes the gable treatment. Battered wood posts and cobblestone pedestals and wall define the porch. A set of one-over-one double-hung sash windows flank the porch. In good condition, the bungalow's only alteration appears to be the screening of the porch. RESEARCH NOTES: Amos R. Colborn, proprietor of the Colborn Electric Shop in the 1920s, and his wife Portia were the first owners of this house, erected 1922-23. The couple lived next door in a house they had built a year earlier.
