Description
Remarkably similar in appearance to 141 E. Arrow Highway, this one-story residence is influenced by the Colonial Revival style. A cross gable roof tops the structure, which has a "T" shaped facade. Clapboard-sided, the structure rests on a stone foundation. A boxed cornice, plain friezeboard and endboards trim the building. The front gable projects over a porch which is framed by a pair of Tuscan columns sitting on a low wall. within the space, the entry is offset to the right (west) and flanked by a pair of double-hung sash windows. Above the porch, the gable face contains three latticed vents. Set back on the west, the side-gabled wing of the "T" contains a second entry shaded by a pent roof. No major alterations were noted, and the house is in fairly good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This house is one of a series whose origins are complicated by the pacific Electric purchase of lots just north of the tracks in 1916. It appeared on its present site between 1912 and 1928, according to the Sanborns. The owners were Henry and Mattie Henderson. However, stylistically the house appears to predate that period.
