Description

This one-story Craftsman bungalow stands behind a heavily landscaped setback which hides it from the viewer. The main portion of the dwelling appears to be covered by a front facing gabled roof while a similarly proportioned and detailed gabled roof offset to the north tops a screened porch. The roofs have extended eaves and exposed rafters. A small vent with horizontal louvers is centered in the face of the porch gable. Fenestration inside the screened porch appears to be intact. There appears to be an off-centered multi-paned door and a pair of multi-paned sash window the left. The bungalow is sheathed in clapboard, sits on a cobblestone foundation and appears to be in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: John Palmer with Upland Cyclery was the first documented owner/resident of this house. Palmer acquired the property in 1908-09 and was located on the west side of Campus south of 10th (Arrow) in the 1909-1910 and 1911 directories. Earlier owners were J.T. Anderson (1908), G.W. Hursey (1907), the Magnolia Land and Water Company (a.k.a. the Harwood Brothers) (1906), and the Harwood Brothers, the subdividers, in 1905.
