Description
In common with other homes nearby, this one-story bungalow merges Craftsman and Colonial Revival characteristics. The hipped roof is varied by a gablet over the east half of the facade and detailed with a boxed cornice. Clapboard sheathes the structure, trimmed by endboards and a continuous sill. The gablet tops a recessed porch which is anchored by posts set on tapered pedestals. Oriented perpendicular to the street, the entry opens into the west half of the facade. This space is lit by a large multi-light window. The window has probably been re-glazed; however, the house is largely intact. RESEARCH NOTES: This house is one of two erected around 1906, following ownership of the Magnolia Land and Water Company and A.G. Allen. It does appear on the 1907 Sanborn. However, due to the lot reconfiguration caused by the Pacific Electric purchase in 1916 it is difficult to determine whether E. Heise or Clara R. Wealty was the owner at the time of construction.
