Description
Simple in design, this one-story Craftsman bungalow is sheathed with clapboard and covered by a low-pitched cross-gabled roof. Corner posts support the front gable which projects from the south end of the street facade to cover a porch. Extended eaves and exposed rafters characterize the roof treatment. Fenestration consists of a door and a one-over-one double-hung sash window under the porch, another sash window just to the north and a vent with vertical slats on the porch gable. A continuous header links the porch openings; other apertures have slightly extended lintels. Intact, the bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This property changed hands eight times between 1907, the date of subdivision, and 1922. The house was not pictured on the 1912 Sanborn; instead a tiny cottage was located in the rear of the lot. A $60 to $75 assessment was recorded in the teens and early 1920s and probably reflected that cottage. Since Charles and Irma Anderson, who bought the property in 1922, are recalled by long-time residents as living in the house, it is assumed that it was built about that year.
