Description
An L-shaped porch acknowledges the corner site of this one-story, turn-of-the-century residence. Its hipped roof is extended over the porch at a flattened pitch and is accented by bellcast gables over the ends of the porch on both the west and north elevations. Elevated one step on a cobblestone foundation, the porch is open, with posts defining three bays on the west and two on the north. The central bay on the west contains an entrance while the side bays are occupied by windows which appear to have been re-glazed. Another entry faces west at the east end of the north portion of the porch. The building is clad with wide horizontal siding which may also be an alteration and finished with a boxed cornice. It is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This house was probably built about the time the tract was subdivided circa 1907-08. Ruth Rosebaum was the assessed owner and she lived on the corner of 8th and loth, according to the 1909-1910 directory. In 1911 Jules Ondette, a blacksmith, became the ownerlresident. He was followed by Harold and Ruth Stickney. Stickney was a teacher at Chaffee College.
