Description
Located on the southeast corner of Campus and Arrow, this is a one-story turn-of-the-century residence. The building sits on a cobblestone foundation, has clapboard siding, plain friezeboards, and a boxed cornice. A bellcast hipped roof is distinguished by a contiguous gablet on the south end of the west (Campus) elevation and a centrally located gabled dormer with flared eaves on the north (Arrow) elevation. An L-shaped porch which spans the west and part of the north elevations has been enclosed on the west with windows sandwiched between posts and a low clapboard wall. The remaining section on the north elevation has been left open, and wrought iron supports added. It appears that entrances are located on both the north and west elevations. The building is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: When the 1912 Sanborn was issued this house had already been erected. The property had several assessed owners during its early history. After the 1907 subdivision, W.E. Buie was listed in the lot books, followed by H.N. Scholl (1908-10); J.J. Atwood and H.D. Blakeslee (1911-13); Henry Blakeslee (1915), Clare Blakeslee, and George and Mae Cable (1919)
