Description
Framed by a pair of palms in the parkway, this is a one-story Craftsman bungalow. Its front gable roof features bands of lattice work, fishscale, and conventional shingles in the gable end. Rafters are exposed in the eaves. Recessed across the facade, the porch has been partially enclosed by windows at its west end. At the head of two stairs with cobblestone rails, the entry is offset to the west and contains a door with six small lights in two tiers across the upper portion. Other openings are hidden by the lattice screen that protects the east half of the porch. Sheathed in clapboard, the bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Comparison of the 1907 and 1912 Sanborns indicates that this bungalow was erected during those five years. Since the parcel was carved out of a much larger property around 1910-11, it is assumed that construction took place then. Drusa Roberts was the assessed owner in 1911-13, followed by Alonzo Griffith (1914-15), Ralph Griff ith (1916) , and Edna Doner (1917) , none of whom apparently lived there. In 1918 Albert Waterpaugh assumed title; in 1919 Albert and Sarah Waterpaugh were listed in the directory at "605."
