Description
With its low pitched gable roof and cobblestone porch, this onestory bungalow adheres to the Craftsman theme of this block of Eighth Avenue. The main volume of the building is side gabled, with a central gablet and a front gable over the porch in front of the south end of the facade. Vertical venting and extended beams are visible in the gable ends. Tapered posts on battered stone pedestals carry the porch gable. linking the pedestals, a stone wall encloses the porch which is entered from the side. Two openings are contained within the porch, a paneled, six-light entry and a broad, fixed sash window. A pair of double-hung sash windows are located in the side gablet wing north of the porch. narrow clapboards sheathe the structure, which sits on a stone foundation. It is unaltered and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES : An improvement assessment appeared for the first time on this lot in 1926 when the owners were Alving and Myrtle May Gish. Gish was a plumber.
