Description
This variation on the Eighth Avenue Craftsman theme is dominated by the porch treatment. A front gable whose face is an open truss extends over the space, which spans the facade. Battered pedestals punctuate the cobblestone porch wall. At each end clustered posts joined by cross bars carry the porch gable. A pergola extends to the south over the driveway. Another pergola tops a second porch on the south elevation. There are three openings on the facade: a central doorway with a battered surround and two broad windows. The bungalow is sheathed with clapboard and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Herbert C. and Elizabeth E. Naylor built this bungalow in 1922- 23. Naylor had a notions store on Second Avenue.
