Description

A generous use of cobblestone and a rounded porch are the notable features of this one-story, turn-of-the-century residence. The clapboarded structure is topped by a hipped roof, accented by a gablet over the entry. Octagon tiles face the gable entry. A recessed porch with a cobblestone wall wraps the facade and the south elevations. Tuscan columns sit on slightly raised sections of the wall and carry the porch roof. The south section of the porch has been enclosed with casement windows. Cobblestone stair walls flank three shallow steps leading to the entry. Fenestration is primarily of double-hung sash windows in type. Other than the porch enclosure, which apparently occurred quite some time ago, the building appears unaltered. It is in fair condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Frank L. Winn obtained this property from the Magnolia Land and Water Company in 1904-05. He was a rancher and lived at this location for many years. From South Dakota, Winn came to Southern California for his wife's health.
