Description
Although altered, this one-story turn-of-the-century residence retains some characteristic elements. Clad with narrow clapboard and trimmed with endboards, the bungalow sits on a cobblestone foundation. A bellcast hipped roof accentuated by a central gablet and boxed eaves sits atop a plain friezeboard. The porch that was recessed into the southwest corner of the structure has been fully enclosed. A double-hung sash window on the north is now adorned with shutters. The house is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: After subdivision, this property was owned by Henry Wedel (1909- lo), H.B. Frieson (1911-1913) and Thomas S. Dowse (from 1915). The house had been constructed by 1912; its address on that yearls Sanborns is "456." Thomas Dowse, an apiarist, was the first owner that the directories documented living at this location.
