Description
Very similar to the original appearance of 546 N. Campus, this boxy one-story turn-of-the-century bungalow sits under a bellcast hipped roof. Below the boxed cornice and plain friezeboard, the clapboarded bungalow is trimmed with endboards. The centrally located entrance is marked by a gabled hood on trellis supports which were probably added in the 1920s. A one-over-one doublehung sash window is located to the north (left) of the entrance while a band of sash windows wraps around southwest corner, enclosing a former porch. Boxed bays punctuate the south elevation. Other alterations include the addition of aluminum awnings over the windows on the street facade. The house is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Fairly rapid turnover characterizes the early ownership history of this property. David and Marie Anrich were the owners in 1909-11 following subdivision of the tract, then Isaac Hart (1912-16), Mary E. and Lottie S. Hart, Henry and Lillian Eller (1919), and H.J. Kaufman (1920). Kaufman, a dentist, lived there in the 1920s, according to former neighbors. The house predates 1912, when its address on the Sanborn was "466."
