Description
Although substantially altered, this one-story residence retains some early colonial characteristics. Intersecting gables give the building its L shape. The structure is sheathed in wide clapboard finished with endboards. The front facing gable features crown molding and returns; its face is pierced by a vent with a pointed head. A plain friezeboard boxed cornice details the roofline. To the east a pent roof supported by thin wood posts covers a porch fronting the side gable wing. All of the windows have been altered. The structure is in fair condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Frank T. Jones is the first owner of this house known to have lived in it. After purchasing the property in 1905-06 from Amos G. Allen (who got it from the Magnolia Land and Water Company), Jones moved from 5th and B (Ninth St.) by 1909-10. His occupation according to the directories was "laborer."
