Description
This one-story cottage looks to the American Colonial Revival for its stylistic clues. Sheathed in narrow clapboard, the structure rests on a cobblestone foundation. A bellcast hipped roof sits atop a frieze board and boxed cornice; gablets pierced by arched vents are centered over the front and side elevations. Four Tuscan columns and a clapboard railing enclose a porch recessed across the facade. A slightly offset door is flanked by altered windows. Aside from the windows no major alterations were observed. The house is in good condition. A low stone curb marks the property line. RESEARCH NOTES: Milliard and Charlotte Palmer were the assessed owners of most of this property beginning in 1908. Prior owners included the subdividers, the Harwood Brothers, and L.A. Spicer, who apparently bought a large portion of the subdivision. Carl and Florence Graves obtained title from the Palmers in 1919.
