Description
Located on the northwest corner of Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue, this is a one-story Craftsman bungalow. It is capped by a side gable roof which is accented by a very shallow, shed-roofed dormer vent offset to the west over the facade. The gabled roof is enhanced by projecting eaves, exposed rafters and triangular brackets. Four steps with cobblestone rails lead to a porch which originally wrapped the front and east elevations. Battered stone piers anchor the corners. The east bay and elevation have been enclosed. Broad windows flank the entry at the head of the steps. Sheathed in clapboard and set on a stone foundation, the bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: One of the members of the Williams clan, Glenn, was apparently the first owner of this house. He gained title to the property in 1911. Previously he had lived with Richard or Fred Williams at the corner of Ninth and Campus. He was employed by the post office. Apparently the property is still owned by the Williams family.
