Description
Craftsman and turn-of-the-century elements are combined in this one-story residence. The building is capped by a hipped roof which is distinguished by a central, shed dormer, projecting eaves, and shaped rafter tails. Two steps with cobblestone rails provide access to a front porch recessed across the facade. Four clapboarded posts define three bays. The central bay contains an offset entry while the side bays are fenestrated with windows with diamond-paned upper sashes. The clapboarded structure sits on a cobblestone foundation and is trimmed with endboards and a continuous sill. The only alteration to this well maintained bungalow appears to be changes in the porch treatment. RESEARCH NOTES: Located on property subdivided in 1907, this house was probably built around 1908. The owner until 1912 was Maurice E. Morgan, a clerk. In 1915 E.T.H. Allyn was assessed, followed by Julia Allyn (1920) and Orlando and Naomi Foster (1921). The house appeared on the 1912 Sanborn.
