Description
Shallowly-pitched gables on two levels keynotes the design of this two-story Craftsman residence. Front facing, the gables span the facade, the upper capping a set-back second story, the lower a porch and front room. Both are detailed with exposed rafters and beams in the overhangs and vertical venting in the ends. Clapboards sheathe the structure, which sits on a cement foundation. The porch occupies the southeast corner of the building and is defined by battered posts and pedestals. A glazed entry with sidelights opens from the inner corner of the porch. A tripartite window illuminates the lower front room while a series of five double-hung sash are equally spaced across the upper story facade. One curious feature of the building, an angled wall where the porch meets the front wing, may be an alteration. Otherwise appearing to be intact, the house is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: The $850 improvement on this property appeared in 1923. It was owned by W.A. and Medora Getty, who had obtained the lot in 1919. Willis A. Getty was listed as a rancher in the 1924 directory.
