Description
A broadly pitched front and side gabled roof tops this one-story craftsman bungalow. The main portion of this dwelling is covered by a side gabled roof and is mostly hidden from the viewer by foliage. Centered on the facade,the porch is capped by the front gable. Extended Bargeboards, exposed rafters, crossbeams and vertical stickwork in gable faces characterize the roof treatment. Woodposts on cobblestone pedestals support the porch gable. The entry is centered at the head of four steps. The only visible fenestration is a triple casement window to the right (east) of the door. Sheathed in clapboard, the bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Contractor Robert Wisely built this house for his family in 1923-24. Wisely's name was associated with several homes built in Upland in the 1920's. He was killed shortly after this house was built, in an accident on the Pacific Electric tracks.
