Description
This one-and-one-half story Craftsman home is notable for the
cobblestone facing of its lower story. A side gable caps the
building, accented by an overscaled, front-gabled dormer.
Stucco, decorated with half-timbering, sheathes the gable end.
It contains three four-over-one double-hung sash windows.
Corbels mark the transition between the gable and the lower
story. The entry is offset to the south at the head of five -
stairs. An aluminum canopy has been added. To the left (south),
a three-sided bay glazed with four-over-one sash windows is also
stuccoed. A large window centered beneath the gable end is
finished with stone ttvoussoirs.M Cobblestone also sheathes the
chimney, which rises near the south end of the structure. The
house occupies a large parcel and appears to be in good
condition.
Nothing is known about the origins of this house. Located on lot
262 of the Ontario Colony, it is presumably a former grove house.
It is significant as such and for its use of stone in the design
and construction.
