Description

Both Colonial and Craftsman details are found in this two-story American Foursquare house. A hipped roof with notched rafter tails in the overhanging eaves crowns the building. Centered over the facade a hipped dormer containing an "X"-paned attic window between latticed vents is similarly detailed. Sill courses circle the clapboarded structure on both levels. The building sits on a cobblestone foundation. At the west end of the facade, an attached porch is defined by a pent roof carried on columns with Ionic capitals. A large window with an extended lintel occupies the east half of the lower facade. Centered below the dormer, an oval window is the focal point of the second story. It is flanked by double-hung sash windows. In fairly good condition, the house appears to be substantially unaltered.

On the basis of style it is estimated that this house was built around 1908. It is located in the Leeke and Walline Tract which was subdivided in 1902 and amended in 1906. This part of Upland was part of ~ntario until 1931 when it was annexed to Upland. The house is significant as a representative example of its style.
