Description
This complex consists of a corrugated metal barn and one-story
house immediately north of the barn on the northeast corner of
Mountain and 21st Street. The barn is gabled and contains large,
star-patterned doors on the front and side elevations. Doublehung
sash windows have been mostly enclosed. The house is
I notable for its cobblestone exterior. Influenced by the
Craftsman style, the building is capped by a side gable roof
punctuated by exposed rafters. A porch, delineated by a low
stone wall and posts, is recessed beneath the gable and spans the
facade. Double-hung sash windows with smaller upper sashes flank
an offset entry. The house appears to be relatively unaltered
and in good condition.
Nothing is known about the origins of these two structures. The
house is noteworthy for its use of stone, a special
characteristic of architecture in the region. As a building
type, barns also occasion interest; once plentiful in this onetime
agricultural community, they are now scarce.
