Description

An asymmetrical assemblage of one- and two-storied, front and side gabled wings, this is a two-story dwelling in the Spanish style. It is stucco-sided and tile-roofed, and features a variety of openings both flat and round-headed. The facade is arranged in a "TW shaped plan, with the leg of the "Tn projecting toward the street. In the apex of its front gable, an oval vent is covered by lattice and framed by a garland-like molding. The m second story of this wing contains an arched double casement * window with an iron balconet which is centered over three windows set directly into the first floor wall without casings. Crossing the "T," the rear wing is also two stories. It is fronted by a walled patio on the west and a one-story projection containing the entry on the east. A planed wooden door with a round head is set deeply within an archway. The stucco surface of the wall to the right of the opening is decoratively pierced to screen a small window. Abutting the entry projection, another one-story wing is front gabled and is occupied by a large, arched window. The house appears to be in good condition and is substantially altered. RESEARCH NOTES: The assessment record indicates that William and Rose Tuttle built the house in 1926-27. A $3000 improvement assessment in 1927 is indicative of the relatively large and elaborate character of the building.
