Description
The straightforward design of this one-and-a-half story Craftsman residence is nearly symmetrical in arrangement. Above a stone fouddation and clapboarded exterior, the roof is cross-gabled and presents a front gable to the street. Extended rafters and layered beams are visible in the eaves. A double casement with a decorative pattern of muntins and an extended lintel with angled ends is centered beneath the gable peak. Elevated four steps, a porch is recessed across the facade. Its dimensions are defined by a clapboard wall and tapered end posts. Newer supports have been added to each side of the central entry. Like the upper windows, the doorway has an extended lintel. So do the large windows which flank the entry; they are also distinguished by a lozenge design of muntins in their upper sashes. Other than the porch supports, the bungalow appears unaltered. It is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: J.J Atwood, the subdivider, sold this lot to Eli Yoder in 1912- 13. Yoder apparently did not live there, but he was the owner when improvement assessments were recorded in 1914. In 1919, the $300 improvement was assessed to Minnie Davis.
