Description
A familiar vocabulary is employed in this one-story Craftsman bungalow. It sits on a cobblestone foundation and is capped by a side gabled roof with extended eaves, exposed rafters and plain bargeboards. Tapered posts on cobblestone pedestals and cross beams support a front gable over a centrally located porch. The entry is offset to the south. Double-hung sash windows with larger lower sashes are located unequal distances from each side of the entry. The only major alteration appears to be the application of asphalt shingles. Otherwise, the bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: The assessment record does not reveal when the improvement first appeared on this property, although the house was recorded on the 1912 Sanborn map. The lot was assessed to W.T. Leeke, one of the subdividers, until 1912. A $300 assessment was recorded in 1914 when the owner was E.A. Bacon. Over the next ten years the property changed hands several times, passing from Bacon to Edwin R. Guernsey (1915), S.H. Bryant (1918), B.B. & E.B. Wilson ( 1919), William and Mary Littlewood (1922), and Reneado and Margaret Bailey (1923.
