Description
Highly characteristic of the mid-1920s, this is a one-story Craftsman bungalow with a nearly symmetrical facade. The side gable roof features exposed rafters and beams. Centered on the facade, the entry is marked by a front gable resting on plain posts. Clapboard sheathes the structure, which sits on a cobblestone foundation. The fenestration consists of an "X" paneled and glazed entry flanked by six-over-one sash windows, the upper sash being 114 size. Slightly extended lintels top the openings. The bungalow is in good condition and substantially unaltered. Like other homes along this section of Arrow, it is set behind a large palm tree. RESEARCH NOTES: After being split off from the parcel adjacent to the west in 1914, this property was unimproved until 1923-24. At that time educator Fannie D. Noe had the house erected. The principal of the Upland Grammar School, Noe was a respected and well-known member of the community. Eventually, the school over which she presided was named after her.
