Description
A single palm tree calls attention to this one-and-one-half story Craftsman bungalow. Surmounted by a side gable roof, the building is sided with wide clapboard and sits on a stone foundation. Notched rafters and triangular braces punctuate the eaves. Centered over the facade, a large dormer is capped by a braced front gable. Perhaps originally a balcony or a sleeping porch, the space beneath the gable is enclosed by a band of single sash windows. The porch which is recessed across the facade, has also been enclosed, so that neither the central entry or the tripartite windows flanking it are original. Three steps with cobblestone rails lead to the door. Other alterations include the replacement of some of the windows on the side elevations. The bungalow is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: According to the recollections of former neighbors, this house was built circa 1918 by Gus Anderson, a farmer from South Dakota who became a citrus rancher.
