Description
This one-story, Craftsman-influenced bungalow has been stripped to its basic elements. A side gable roof of fairly steep pitch tops the building, flaring out at a shallower pitch across the front and rear elevations. Beneath the front overhang, a porch is recessed across the facade. Four posts define three bays. The entry is in the central bay and windows in the sides; all have been altered. Clapboard sheathes the building, which is in fairly good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: The lot split which created this parcel took place in 1911. Sometime between then and 1915, when a $200 improvement was documented, this house was erected. H. Lovina Smith was the assessed owner but did not appear in the directories. Subsequent residents, according to former neighbors, included track athlete Oliver Kerry, who kept a cow in the back, and the Frost family.
